Wyandotte Man Reports Break-in, Money Stolen from Mattress

The following information was supplied by the Wyandotte Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A thief entered a home in the 1800 block of Vinewood on Jan. 17 and stole numerous pairs of Nike Air Jordan’s, baseball caps and about $2,500 in cash hidden in the homeowner’s mattress, police said.

The man told police he got a call from his girlfriend around 10:05 p.m. asking why his trash was dumped in the middle of the kitchen floor.

Police said it appears the robber used the trash bag to leave with the stolen items.

The report said the culprit entered the home through the rear door, which was forced open. The man said the door was locked with a deadbolt and chain lock prior to the break-in.

The victim told police he believed it was someone he knew due to the fact that the thief knew where the man’s money was stashed.
