Wyandotte Police Make Arrest in Case of Teens Robbed at Gunpoint

Victim's memory of a cross tattoo helped police track down the suspect in southwest Detroit.

Wyandotte police have arrested a 15-year-old Detroit boy who they say held up three Downriver teens at gunpoint earlier this month.

According to the Downriver News-Herald, the arrest comes after an extensive police investigation, which included using GPS to locate the cell phone that was stolen from one of the victims.

The incident occurred on Oct. 5, when a 15-year old Wyandotte boy told police that he was walking on First Street near North Drive with two friends -- a 15-year-old boy from Brownstown Township and a 14-year-old boy from Wyandotte -- when he was robbed at gunpoint.

The victims handed over their cell phones after a man jumped out of a car with a gun pointed at them.

The man who jumped out of the car was the passenger, and the victim noticed that he had a cross tattoo on his middle finger of his left hand.

Police were able to use this detail to track down the suspect on Facebook, where he had posted photos of the tattoo.
