Wyandotte Police Step Up Search for Missing Resident

Emerson Stockman Melhose, Jr., 72, was last seen near Eureka and Third on Wednesday afternoon.

Wyandotte police increased efforts to locate Emerson Stockman Melhose, Jr. by enlisting the help of several law enforcement agencies including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Wyandotte police assisted in an air to ground search via helicopter Monday afternoon.

"We are doing everything we possibly can," detective Scott Galeski said.

Other agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard, the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, the Michigan State Police and the Downriver Detroit Cadets have also begun assisting in the search.

Melhose, 72, was last seen near Eureka and Third on Wednesday afternoon, just prior to when his relatives reported him missing.

Melhose has been diagnosed with some emotional impairments, which police believe may be the cause of his disappearance.
