Have You Noticed Fort Street Has Been Very Dark?

Streetlights on Fort Street between Goddard and Eureka roads were removed for construction. Find out when light will return to Fort Street.

Construction on Fort Street has been the cause for a number of complaints including the most recent — darkness.

One Wyandotte Patch reader, Nancy Alm, expressed concern on the Wyandotte Patch Facebook page about a lack of streetlights on Fort Street between Goddard and Eureka roads, saying "it's so dark on the Wyandotte side."

The streetlights were removed during construction and, though construction is nearly complete, new streetlights have not yet replaced the old ones.

The darkness along that particular stretch of Fort Street will likely remain until spring, according to Wyandotte officials.

Officials said city employees, in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), are waiting for spring when the ground thaws to run electrical wires underground for new streetlights.
