Home Heating Credits for Low-Income Michigan Residents Due Sept. 30

Eligible homeowners must own or rent the home they live in to qualify for a heating credit.

Low-income Michigan residents have until Sept. 30 to apply for a home heating credit.

Eligible customers must have their homestead in Michigan, must own or rent the home in which they live, and for the standard allowance, their income must fall within certain limits. Special exemptions are available for residents who are deaf, blind, a person with a disability, or age 65 or older.

The Home Heating Credit is funded by the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance program grant. Home heating credits are processed by the Michigan Department of Treasury.
