'Meet the Candidates' Night Set for School Board Race

Two neighborhood groups will host a Board of Education election forum at 7 p.m Thursday.

A "Meet the Candidates" night is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the to introduce the public to the five candidates running for a Board of Education seat in the May 3 election.

The event is hosted by the Garfield and McKinley Neighbors United Neighborhood Groups.

Three school board seats are up for grabs this year. Each is a four-year term.

Incumbents Dana Browning and Robert Kirby are being challenged by residents Kelly Kohlstrand, Stephanie Miello and David Shalda.

Incumbent Jerry Kupser is not seeking re-election.

Thursday's forum will begin with each candidate introducing himself or herself to the audience. The speaking order was determined alphabetically.

After the introductions, audience members will be permitted to ask questions.

"It should be quite interesting," said John Darin, spokesman for the McKinley group.
