New Bike Racks Coming to Downtown Wyandotte

A bike rack design contest executed by the City of Wyandotte is over and the winner is...

The contest is over and the winners of the Wyandotte bike rack design contest are local artists Raymond Gomez and Anthony Reale.

Reale won the competition with their familiar and functional bike rack design. The design takes the familiar image of the Vienna cafe chair and turns it into a functional bike rack.

The bike racks are expected to be built and installed throughout Downtown Wyandotte.

The chair design is a "timeless classical design that captures the spirit of ingenuity and classic craftsmanship, according to Reale's contest submission.

"A play on the cafe lifestyle that Wyandotte's downtown now embodies," Reale stated in the submission.

A contract between the City of Wyandotte and Reale was expected to be signed Monday night.

There were two designs selected for the contest. Gomez's design was not available Monday night.
