Trash Cans With Eyes, Other Art Coming to Downtown Wyandotte

Local teens will descend on Downtown Wyandotte to make their mark through the expression of art.

Despite Downtown Wyandotte's beautiful facade, there's something missing.

The trashcans don't have eyes. But, they will.

Wayndotte City Council Members granted the Downriver Council for the Arts (DCA) permission to decorate Downtown Wyandotte with temporary art installations from July 22 to August 1.

Art installations are expected to be created with non-permanent materials including chalk paint, sidewalk chalk, yarn, tissue paper, stickers and fabric.

All art will be created by local teens during the DCA's summer art camp.

Local teens created art for a similar effort to beautify downtown last winter. Works of art included eyeballs attached to garbage cans and fire hydrants, painted trees, side walk decorations and tree warmers.
