Wyandotte City Council Meetings On Hold Till Nov. 14

The Monday night meetings have been postponed due to Halloween and a citywide election.

The weekly Monday night Wyandotte City Council meetings have been canceled until Nov. 14.

The Oct. 31 meeting was canceled due to Halloween and the Nov. 7 meeting was called off on the following day.

Voters will head to the polls Nov. 8 to decide a millage increase.

The three-year, 1.75-mill tax hike is expected to generate about $1 million in revenue in the first year to help offset an estimated $1.4 million budget shortfall.

If approved, it will cost the average homeowner about $85 a year for three years, according to City Administrator Todd Drysdale.

If the millage is defeated, officials said, drastic cuts would have to be made to city services.
