The Wyandotte election is rapidly approaching and to help voters make sound, informed decisions, Wyandotte Patch created a questionnaire for candidates seeking election or re-election in 2013.

What is your prior political experience?

I have no prior political experience so the only one I have to answer to is the voter. I promise the voters that I will always have their best interests at heart and make good decisions on their behalf.

What is your prior professional experience?

I am a custom home builder and residential and commercial contractor. I understand the city permit process and many other areas aspects of city operations. Including codes, ordinances, and the city charter.

What made you decide to seek election/re-election?

As a small business owner I have a unique prospective on how the local economy works, and what the city needs to do to attract young family’s to our community. We need to strengthen our current businesses and attract and develop new business to further grow our economy.

What issues do you see affecting Wyandotte?

Keeping our community safe! With the city of Detroit and other surrounding community's in decline, a community like Wyandotte has been faced with many different challenges. These challenges need to be met by a council that has public safety as its number one priority. A safe community will attract sold families who will patronize our business district and promote the growth of our business as well as our residential community.

What is your plan to address those issues?

In order to maintain and strengthen our police, fire and city service departments we need to attract new business and industry. They pay a higher tax rate then the residential properties do, therefore we need to find a way to increase revenue with out placing that burden on current residential taxpayers.

State shared revenue is also based on population; we need to continue to build quality housing and invest in our neighborhoods. This will attract new families to our community.

If Wyandotte is to survive it must grow. Look at Royal Oak and Plymouth who has successfully marked their downtown. There is no reason Wyandotte with its better location isn’t head and shoulders above any other community.
