Wyandotte Hiring Zamboni Driver, Police Dispatcher

The city also has openings for snow plow drivers and municipal service collection clerks.

Ever wanted to drive a Zamboni? Or maybe get behind the wheel during a snowstorm to plow the city's streets?

If so, the city of Wyandotte is looking for you.

Zamboni Operator

In addition to driving the high-tech machine, the Zamboni operator also is responsible for overseeing the ice surface and security of Yack Arena. The hours are 5 p.m. to close (typically 10 or 11 p.m.) weekdays and from open to close on the weekends (times will vary depending on ice rentals).

Snow Plow Driver

Applicants must have a valid Michigan Driver License with a CDL Class “A” or “B” endorsement to become a part-time snow plow driver. The pay is $23 an hour. 

Applications are available on the city’s website and can be turned in at the Department of Public Services from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm weekdays. For more information, call 734-324-4587.

Collection Clerk

Full-time and part-time positions are available for the processing of electric, water and cable utility payments. 

Applications are available on the city’s website and can be turned in to Wyandotte Municipal Services on the second floor of the new City Hall, 3200 Biddle. The deadline to apply is Dec. 19.

Police/Fire Dispatcher

The city is hiring a pool of police and fire dispatchers, with the opportunity for the advancement to a part-time position. The pay is $12 an hour, with no benefits, and may include day, evening and weekend shifts.

Applicants must be a United States citizen, at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and have a high school diploma or GED. All applicants must pass a background investigation, along with pre-employment testing.
