Wyandotte Joins Growing List of Michigan Cities Placing Moratoriums on Medical Pot Facilities

Wyandotte officials decide to not issue certificates of occupancy to any medical marijuana facility until the Michigan Court of Appeals announces its ruling on their legality.

Wyandotte officials have joined a growing list of Michigan communities taking steps to keep medical marijuana facilities out of their communities.

to enact a moratorium on issuing any certificates of occupancies for medical marijuana facilities until the Michigan Court of Appeals makes a ruling on their legality.

A few days earlier, on Aug. 8, in order to give the township time to consider its legal options for zoning vendors.

Several other Michigan communities, including Flint, Fenton, Schwartz Creek and Linden, also have passed similar measures, according to HuffPo Detroit.

Wyandotte City Engineer Mark Kowalewski proposed the matter, which directs City Attorney William Look to draft a city ordinance regarding the moratorium.

“The Michigan Court of Appeals has recently made a ruling on the regulation of medical marijuana by cities,” Kowalewski said. “There is also another case scheduled to go before another panel of the Michigan Court of Appeals on this issue. It is my recommendation that a moratorium be adopted concerning any application for a certificate of occupancy for a medical marijuana facility until further clarification on the law may be received and to allow the city to consider the necessity of licensing and making amendments to the zoning ordinance concerning locations of the facilities.”

About five medical marijuana facilities have applied to open in Wyandotte and all have been denied, Kowalewski said.

I can only hope each and every one of them that voted NOT to allow it all become SICK enough to warrant Medical Marijuana for there illness, Lets allow countless bars and pharmacy which is FAR worst then medical marijuana, or keep busting people for simple possession and ruin there lives over what should your choice on how to medicate one's self, 63% of voters in FAVOR of this, decriminalization is soon coming as is legalizing it. Tell the person with cerebral palsy which Medical Marijuana is found to be the best treatment for this type of disease, sorry keep taking pills and destroy your liver and keep lining the pharmaceutical companies pockets instead of allowing grown ass adults how to treat there illnesses, last time I checked at 50 should be MY choice as to used Medical Marijuana instead of pills or booze. And I will assure you each and every one of them that voted all have used Marijuana in the past should there records reflect them trying what 100 MILLION Americans have tried or use constantly?
