Wyandotte Library Now Offers Free Book, Music Downloading

The Bacon Memorial District Library Internet download option is free to use and available 24-7.

Wyandotte residents can now read thousands of books without ever having to visit the library.

is allowing residents to check out eBooks via Internet download. Audiobooks and music also can be checked out using the same method.

The service is always available, free to use and has no late fees as titles automatically expire when the lending period ends. Users, however, must be Wyandotte residents with valid library cards.

According to the library's website, nearly all platforms are supported for downloading digital titles, including PCs, MACs and most mobile devices. The Amazon Kindle is not supported at this time, but should be by the end of the year.

As for required system software, Adobe Digital Editions is needed to read eBooks, while OverDrive Media Console is required to play audiobooks, music or anything containing video. Both programs are free to download and install.

Titles downloaded from the library can be transferred between different devices during the lending period. Certain audio items also can be burned to CDs
