Wyandotte Officials Call on Community to Design City Bike Racks

Bike rack designs must be submitted by 5 p.m. June 21. Winners are expected to be announced on or before July 10.

Artists, engineers, designers and more are invited to enter a contest to design bike racks to be installed in Wyandotte.

Natalie Rankine of the Downtown Development Authority said the project seeks to add both aesthetic appeal and functional utility to Wyandotte.

Designers must walk the line between form and function by adhering to specific guidelines provided by the Downtown Development Authority.

Winning designs will receive $1,500 for design and fabrication and will be installed outside the new Wyandotte City Hall, 3200 Biddle Ave.

Bike rack designs must be submitted by 5 p.m. June 21. Winners are expected to be announced on or before July 10.

Complete design parameters and guidelines for submission may be downloaded from the City of Wyandotte website at www.wyandotte.net/dda and can be found in the photo section of this article.
