Wyandotte State Senator to Host Affordable Care Act Town Hall

Sen. Hoon-Yung Hopgood will also hold a coffee hour at Bacon Memorial Library this month.

State Sen. Hoon-Yung Hopgood (D-Taylor), whose district includes Wyandotte, is hoping to help Downriver residents understand the changes that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will bring to their health insurance coverage.

In order to educate residents, Hopgood will host a senior town hall meeting on Medicaid expansion and the Health Care Exchanges under ACA on Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. 

An AARP ACA education volunteer give a presentation on both the health care marketplace currently enrolling individuals until March 31, 2014, and on the recent expansion of Medicaid.

Bettie Hughes, the Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) Regional Coordinator at the Senior Alliance, will also give a presentation on these important programs. This event will be held at the Maplewood Senior Apartments, 15270 S Plaza Dr. in Taylor. Light refreshments will be served.

Hopgood will also hold two coffee hours within the next month. The first takes place on Friday, Nov. 15 at Bacon Memorial Library at 10:30 a.m.
 
The December Coffee Hour is set for 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at Melvindale Public Library, 18650 Allen Rd. in Melvindale.
