Pop-up Space in Detroit!

Who: River’s Edge Gallery What: “Pop-up” space for art in Detroit Where: East Jefferson and Chalmers When: Friday, June 14th, 2013 Contact Info: info@artattheedge.com or 734-246-9880 Opening Friday June 14th, 2013 at East Jefferson and Chalmers, several artists from River’s Edge Gallery will create art in a “pop-up” space. The project took a one-time party store and transformed it into an exciting new space for art in Detroit. With missionary zeal, this project brings art from all over Metro-Detroit, including River’s Edge Gallery from Wyandotte. Those who share a passion for art and design will be pleased to learn of this new space. Gallery Director of River’s Edge Gallery, Jeremy E. Hansen, has been working on the River’s Edge pop-up with Roger VanTol, head architect and project manager. “Roger is a heck of a designer and very resourceful,” says Hansen. “We share a lot of the same ideals and we are both enjoy doing new art projects. It’s been awesome working with him!” VanTol has also been working with Mark Loeb, coordinator for Jazzin’ on Jefferson. Loeb has asked River’s Edge to contribute art for a second time. Hansen, VanTol, and Loeb are all part of a larger, supportive group who see the potential in a Detroit neighborhood. Patt Slack, owner of River’s Edge Gallery, is excited for the show also. “Art has always been a foundation in Detroit and Metro-Detroit,” said Slack. “The city has always been home to creative music endeavors, rock ‘n roll movements, underground comics, etc. There shouldn’t be an inch of Metro-Detroit that doesn’t represent all the creative forces: music, visual arts, and installations. We’re happy to be part of this space where everything comes alive.” For more information, contact River’s Edge Gallery at info@artattheedge.com or 734-246-9880 or http://www.jazzinonjefferson.com/juneonjefferso/
