Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital to Help Hundreds of Students Battle The Bulge

Last year, activities related to the Feelin' Good Milage Club helped 2.5 million children fight obesity.

More than 400 Grosse Ile students will get an opportunity to win prizes by being health conscious beginning at 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at Parke Lane Elementary.

In a partnership with Wyandotte Henry Ford Hospital, school staff members will be working along side hospital volunteers to encourage health and fitness amongst the children.

Students will be given incentives to eat healthy and exercise including new bicycles. Parents will also receive nutritional information.

Henry Ford Wyandotte President and CEO Denise Brooks-Williams will be attending.

“Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital understands that in order to be successful in school, our children need the support from home, school and community,” Brooks-Williams said in a Wyandotte Henry Ford Hospital release. “As partners, we share the responsibility for our kids’ success.”

At the event, school and hospital officials will show off prizes and explain the new program. Students will then head outside to run around the school track.
