It's Off to the Races This Weekend for the Wyandotte Music Boosters
The third 'Evening at the Races' event will be held Saturday, with all proceeds going toward the Wyandotte Schools Music Department.
Though the Kentucky Derby might be over this year, get out your best attire (and floppy hat!) because Wyandotte's own horse race is just getting started.
This Saturday, join in the fun at the Wyandotte Music Boosters' third annual 'Evening at the Races' event. All proceeds will be directed toward purchasing new musical instruments for the Wyandotte Schools Music Department for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
The school district has been able to provide many students over the years with low or no-cost use of various instruments. Equipment to be updated and replaced include tubas, baritone saxophones, bassoons, oboes, mellophones and more.

"So many businesses have contributed to make this event a success, and attendance has been very good in the past," said Denise Green, member of the Wyandotte Music Boosters. "The local community has always been very supportive of the music department."
In addition to a horse race featuring Wyandotte Mayor Joe Peterson and Dr. Carla Harting, Superintendent of Wyandotte Schools, 'An Evening at the Races' will consist of a silent auction and raffle. The Roosevelt High School Jazz band will also be on hand to provide musical entertainment.
