Radio Station Surprises Wyandotte Students with Backpacks, School Supplies

Students in Heather Sueta's first-grade class at Jefferson Elementary School received a visit from WKQI 95.5 FM's 'Mojo In The Morning' show on Wednesday.

A few tears were shed Wednesday morning when the Mojo In The Morning radio show surprised first-graders at Wyandotte’s with backpacks filled with school supplies.

Kaitlyn Wolske wrote into WKQI 95.5 FM to nominate teacher , who teaches Wolske’s son, Jordan, for a contest spearheaded by the station and Operation: Kid Equip.

In her letter, Wolske talks about being a single mother of two children fighting for part-time hours at her job. She said she was unable to afford to buy basic school supplies this year for her son.

Wolske said Sueta constantly uses her own money to purchase items for children whose parents can’t afford them.

Sueta and her entire class had no idea that the radio station was at her school this morning and about to burst into her classroom with all the goodies shortly after 9 a.m.

Cheers could be heard from the classroom and smiles beamed across the kids’ faces.

When the children screamed a thank you to Mojo, he quickly corrected them, saying they needed to thank Jordan’s mom.

“You are an amazing mother, you know that,” Mojo said to Wolske. “Jordan is so lucky to have you as mom. … We want this year to be the best year you have ever had at Jefferson.”
