Student Approached by Males in Vehicle While Walking to School

An 11-year-old middle school student reported that a vehicle approached her as she was walking to school Friday morning, police confirmed today.

The girl, a student at Wilson Middle School, was walking south on 16th Street toward Antoine, when a gray four-door vehicle occupied by two white males stopped in her vicinity. The front seat passenger lowered his window, and motioned his hand for her to come over. The student became frightened and ran to school, Wyandotte Police Inspector James Pouliot said.

Principal Jason Krajewski notified parents in an email shortly after 11 a.m. Friday.

The student was unable identify the make or model of the vehicle, but police said they would be monitoring the area.

It could be something as harmless as asking for directions, Pouliot said. “If they see something, we’ll stop the vehicle and identify who they are.”

And if the school board hadn't thought it such a wonderful idea to replace the police officer with minimum-wage-paid mall cops with no authority, perhaps the officer on site would have been able to patrol the area for suspicious people.

James, the best thing to do might be to raise more money for the city so that they could afford another police officer once again. Are you willing to pay a little more in taxes and convince all of your neighbors to do the same?

Pay a little more in taxes? HAHAHAA!! For the amount of taxes we pay there should be a police station in that school!

Then maybe a concerned citizen can offer to help the city spent more wisely. know of anyone who could help, Roni?
