An 11-year-old middle school student reported that a vehicle approached her as she was walking to school Friday morning, police confirmed today.

The girl, a student at Wilson Middle School, was walking south on 16th Street toward Antoine, when a gray four-door vehicle occupied by two white males stopped in her vicinity. The front seat passenger lowered his window, and motioned his hand for her to come over. The student became frightened and ran to school, Wyandotte Police Inspector James Pouliot said.

Principal Jason Krajewski notified parents in an email shortly after 11 a.m. Friday.

The student was unable identify the make or model of the vehicle, but police said they would be monitoring the area.

It could be something as harmless as asking for directions, Pouliot said. “If they see something, we’ll stop the vehicle and identify who they are.”
