The Wyandotte Marching Chiefs participated in the Gibraltar-Carlson Spectacular at Carlson High School last Saturday and received a first place trophy for Class A competition with achievement of excellent remarks for Marching, Music, Percussion and Colorguard. The musicians also received plaques in the categories of Best Marching, Best Colorguard and Best Percussion.
The Marching Chiefs have been working hard this past week, putting their top energy into usual engagements while adding on extra performances at Wyandotte elementary schools, the Spectacular at Carlson and the Downriver Fanfare on Tuesday. Band Director Mark D'Angelo is very pleased with the results of the band's dedication and work ethic.
"We are extremely proud of the marching band's hard work this week. It was a very long week with our three regular rehearsals, four performances at all the elementary schools on Friday, the Bears win against Melvindale on Friday evening, and their wonderful performance at Carlson on Saturday! The kids are really excited and so am I!" D'Angelo said.
The following few weeks are busy for the group and include numerous practices and performances. Information about upcoming events is available on the Marching Chiefs website.
