Wyandotte Public Schools Closed Wednesday Due to Snow

The district joins other schools that closed following a winter storm watch on Tuesday afternoon.

Wyandotte Public Schools have canceled classes for Wednesday due to weather conditions.

The district joins other area schools that closed following a winter storm watch that went into effect Tuesday afternoon.

As a general practice, extracurricular activities aren't necessarily canceled on snow days.

"It depends on whether we can get the parking lots and sidewalks cleared later in the day," superintendent Carla Harting said.

because of "concerns about ice on the sidewalks and students walking to school."

Check the Wyandotte Patch Facebook page throughout the day for weather updates. You can also get traffic updates on the Wyandotte Patch commute page.

Really? An inch and a half of snow on the ground equals closing the schools? Wish that was the standard back when I was in school. At the same time, I guess I get their point: They are allotted 5 snow days a year, they've only used one up to this point and we are at the end of February so, might as well use them while you can.
