Wyandotte Public Schools have canceled classes for Wednesday due to weather conditions.

The district joins other area schools that closed following a winter storm watch that went into effect Tuesday afternoon. 

As a general practice, extracurricular activities aren't necessarily canceled on snow days.

"It depends on whether we can get the parking lots and sidewalks cleared later in the day," superintendent Carla Harting said.

 because of "concerns about ice on the sidewalks and students walking to school."
