  • Bobby Deel: Thats right Wyandotte Public Schools, just keep cramming the kids in the classrooms... Jefferson Elementary already has over 500 students... I recently went to my daughters 2nd grade choir concert and barely got in the door. People crammed like sardines, people could not see for people standing in front of others.
  • C-NO: I was the first and only 9th grade school of choice student at RHS when Wyandotte became S.o.C. I was able to get a better education than offered in the district I lived in because of that program. My family wanted that for me and I wanted that for myself. I am now a teacher and I can promise there are many more factors other than S.o.C. that factor into changes in the classroom. Budget and laws play a larger role than you think. Some classroom sizes in districts reach closer to 40, many and most, however, are 30 and under. It's manageable - I promise. Teachers are and always will be over worked and underpaid. Don't like it, don't be a teacher and take the buyout. The world is a diverse place that all people should be exposed to and aware of. It creates appreciation, understanding, and interest from earlier ages. A families socioeconomic status is not the sole issue, but I'm sorry you feel that ALL children don't deserve the same education. A child doesn't decide who and where they come from, that doesn't mean they don't deserve the same success and opportunities as others. Create and support change, don't shy away from it. Statistically those who come from "not the greatest areas" stay that way their entire lives. Stepping outside of those areas with strong support from their educators can change that and potentially change the future.
  • wyandotte mom: We had PT conferences last week at RHS, since our son is doing well in school gratefully it was more social conferring with his teachers, 4 out of his 7 teachers we spoke with mentioned with out being asked how overwhelming they feel as teachers with the large class sizes, good for you to not be overwhelmed with such large class loads. That is amazing. I personally think the class sizes are absurd as well as my feeling with SOC.
