Wyandotte School Superintendent Carla Harting to Retire

Her retirement date is set for June 30, 2014, pending approval of the Wyandotte Board of Education at its meeting Tuesday night.

Wyandotte school Superintendent Carla Harting plans to retire at the end of the 2013-04 school year after 42 years of service with Wyandotte Public Schools.

Her retirement date is set for June 30, 2014, pending approval of the Wyandotte Board of Education at its meeting Tuesday night.

"I am making this announcement early to provide time to select the next Superintendent and allow a smooth transition," Harting wrote in a letter to the school board.

Board members are expected to contract with Metro Bureau to conduct a search for the district's next superintendent.

"I have had the privilege to work with an extremely dedicated staff that does what is best for our students," Hartig wrote in the letter. "It has been an honor to work in Wyandotte Public Schools. It is with certainty I believe you will continue the legacy that all students deserve."
