Wyandotte Students Awarded Money for College Before They Get to High School

Students were rewarded in several categories including grades, content of character and an interest in learning.

Officials at Wyandotte Public Schools awarded college scholarships to students years before they make it to college.

Teachers and principals from schools across the district gave away $5,000 in scholarships to 17 students in fifth and eight grades.

Here's a list of students and awards:

  • Mary Pearce and Emily Pishlo of Garfield Elementary School each received safety scholarships of $250.
  • Cole Atkinson, Luke Caruana, LeNena Hernandez, Juliette Uresti-Balderas of Jefferson Elementary School each received academic scholarships of $250.
  • Jared Deichelbohrer, Emma Bain and Grace Sykes of Monroe Elementary School each received Parent Teacher Organization scholarships of $500.
  • Joseph and Donald Kazmierski, Caitlyn Sloat and Aiyanna Fivecoat of Washington Elementary School each received WOW scholarships of $250.
  • Chayton Fivecoat and Rylee Trombley of Wilson Middle School each received Al DeFran scholarships of $250.
