Two Special Needs Cats are looking for their special families....

MEET MINNIE

Life Is Mighty Good. Our little Miss Minnie is a living embodiment of just how good. From shelter to foster home, this kitty has had nothing but love to give--and serves to remind whomever is around her that life is worth living in the here and now, and in every minute, things couldn't be better! We know someone out there is looking for just such a zen experience, and wants to share their life with a tiny being who will reinforce what it means to take life as it comes, and be present and happy in each moment. She is a sweet young brown tabby female with an adorable set of black ear tufts, rabbit-soft fur, and some awesome striped whiskers (black with white tips!). At about 3-4y, she's full grown, but playful and ready for the new adventures each day brings. Are you ready to meet her and change both your lives?

Minnie is what we like to refer to as special needs 'lite': We are looking for a home that can provide her with a quality diet, fresh water, fresh air, and a stress free living situation, along with regular health checks (yearly check ups)--much as we hope any of our adopted cats would receive. The reason we are looking for a home that will take great care of our girl Minnie is that she has tested FIV positive, which has been stigmatized in the past, but current research is showing that lots of cats who test positive live long, happy lives with high quality care. At present, she shows no signs of being immuno-compromised, which likely means she'll live as any cat would in your home. If you have other cats, but are interested in Minnie, please don't count her out b/c of this--often, if cats are friendly towards each other, there is low risk of transmission. We'll work with you to find our special kitty a stress free home where she can shine for the all the zen moments to come.

Her adoption donation of $100 is being sponsored therefore, there is no fee to the approved home. Having her future home be prepared to provide her care is the most important factor to us.

AND BEANS

Beans is a 15 year old, 4-paw declawed senior. He came from a home where his human had a lot of love to give. Sadly, she died and Beans ended up in the shelter. Three months later, he is still trying to figure out what happened to his life.
He was determined to be quite underweight, likely due to his badly infected mouth inhibiting his ability to eat. His foster mom took him in for dental cleaning and examination; the vet removed 6 of his teeth and started him on a course of nasty-tasting antibiotics.
Beans is feeling quite a bit better now. His appetite is returning, though he is stubbornly particular about which foods he likes. He still could stand to gain 3-5 pounds. He loves to be brushed and combed, but will smack you with his big floppy paws if you pull his hair. He loves playing with his soft catnip toys and snuggling in his plushy blanket. Beans has recently started sleeping next to his foster mom at night.
He gets along with other cats - after all, at his former home he had 29 brothers and sisters to play with!
Still reading? Here's the hard part. Beans' special need is that he is in Stage 2 of chronic kidney disease. He will soon go to the vet for a urinalysis and blood pressure check. He must eat special, low-protein, prescription food - the cost of his food is approximately $75 per month.
Because of his advanced age and known dental problems, his adopter must have the financial means to take Beans to the vet for an exam, including a dental, at least twice a year. This, combined with the cost of food and medication, can be quite expensive.
As Beans is declawed in all four paws and missing 1/5 of his teeth, his ability to defend himself is compromised. He seems to hold his own with the resident cats at his foster home. His foster mom would prefer that he not be homed with dogs. It is absolutely imperative that he is strictly an indoor cat.

If you feel that you can give Beans a safe, loving home for his remaining years, please contact his foster mom at cargirl3000@gmail.com for an application . His adoption donation is $100. We pride ourselves in contacting potential adopters within 24 hours so you won't be left waiting!

All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neutering. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV, given age appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this feline a wonderful forever life in a permanent home.
