For the third straight year fathers with sons who play football for Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte took a moment Wednesday night to say, "I love you."
The annual Father and Son Jersey Night allows young athletes to bond with their fathers and mentors among a common interest—football.
Fathers and mentors presented each athlete with a jersey. As the the players received their jersey they were told these three touching statements:
I love you.

I appreciate and respect you because...
Each father and mentor finished the final statement with a personal sentiment written specifically for the intended athlete. "It was a great evening," head varsity football coach Ron Adams said. "Thanks to everyone who participated."
