“Every facility was looked at to determine the priority of projects that we need to tackle,” said Richard Rockwell,  superintendent of Lincoln Park Public Schools.  “Through that study, now we’re looking at what the priority list is. The bleachers were deemed unsafe, so we’re finding a way to correct it.”

Rockwell said his district is already getting cost estimates and tracking down state regulations in hopes of installing new bleachers for the 2012 season.

In the meantime, Wyandotte has agreed to rent the use of its field to its neighboring city.

“That’s what you do for your league member people,” said Patricia Cole,  superintendent of Wyandotte Public Schools. “You take care of each other. They can’t use their field, so we’re helping.”

Neither team has to change their schedule to make the switch work. On weeks when Wyandotte has away games, Lincoln Park will be using the field for their home games. The two teams are scheduled to face each other once this season.
