Vintage Baseball Team Takes One Last Swing

The Y & . Stars will take the field for one last game Saturday at Memorial Field.

The will take one last swing this summer at the old ball game.

The Stars will take on the Henry Ford Lah-De-Dahs in a vintage “base ball” game on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m. at Memorial Field on Pennsylvania and 23rd.

For the Stars, this is their biggest match of the season—the fourth annual Home Classic, which showcases the club that hearkens back to the original baseball team in Wyandotte that was formed in 1867.

The two teams will compete in historic uniforms and play under the old rules of the game, which stress sportsmanship. There is no sliding and no cursing, and players do not use gloves.

The Y & . Stars serve as ambassadors for the , and they play games throughout the summer with uniforms and rules that recall baseball in the 19th century.

Admission to Saturday’s game is free and refreshments are available to purchase at the match.
