Wyandotte College Football Player Receives All-Academic Honors

Andrew Matt served as one of the team captains in 2013, and was a four-time Academic Excellence selection from his redshirt freshman through redshirt senior seasons.

Two members of the 2013 Wayne State University football squad from Downriver received All-Academic accolades from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this season.

Redshirt sophomore place-kicker Majd Khytaz of Grosse Ile, and redshirt senior defensive end Andrew Matt of Wyandotte, Roosevelt High School earned the honors maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least a 3.0.

Matt, who served as one of the team captains, was named a four-time Academic Excellence selection from his redshirt freshman through redshirt senior seasons.

He ranks in the top 10 all-time with five career fumble recoveries, the most by a Warrior since Alan Guy (2004-07). Matt also had five recoveries and finished one point shy of top 10 all-time in quarterback hurries, a record kept since 2002.

His younger brother, Hunter, is a sophomore linebacker at Eastern Michigan.
