Wyandotte Roosevelt kicker Jacob Simpson is one of five candidates nominated for the Mlive.com Metro Detroit Player of the Week online poll.
The junior was nominated because of his three-field goal performance last week, which led the Bears to a 9-0 playoff win at Taylor Truman. Wyandotte's victory against the Cougars earned the team its second consecutive district title.
According to Mlive.com, Simpson in the first kicker ever to be nominated for the award.

Voting closes at 10 a.m. Friday, and the winner will be announced on the Friday Night Blitz on Fox 2 Detroit at 11:15 p.m.
