Wyandotte's Tyler Dunn Signs with Siena Heights

The standout athlete will join two other Roosevelt graduates who also play for the Saints.

Tyler Dunn has signed to play football with Siena Heights University in the fall.

After speaking with representatives from several colleges and universities, Dunn said, choosing which one to attend came down to good manners.

"When I went on my visit, all the people there were very polite," he said. "I felt comfortable the first time I was on the campus and it can only get better from there. They have the major I want, which is criminal justice. I'm just ecstatic and feel confident about this upcoming season. We have a good recruiting class coming in."

As a running back and a co-captain of the Bears this season, Dunn finished 2011 with 700 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns, while also catching 12 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns. His play helped the team capture the and .

On defense, as a member of the team’s secondary, he picked off three passes and made a total of 30 tackles.

Throughout the year, Dunn had a knack for coming up big when it mattered most.

Against , in a battle for the Downriver League title, he scored three touchdowns, gained 173 all-purpose yards and intercepted a pass on defense.

Three weeks later, with the on the line, Dunn rushed for 142 yards, scored two touchdowns and picked off a pass at a key moment against rival Southgate Anderson.

In December, Wyandotte Patch readers selected Dunn as the

Before signing with Siena Heights, Dunn said, he spoke with representatives from Saginaw Valley State University, Wayne State University, Hope College and Concordia University.

Dunn had previously said he wanted to major in exercise science and one day own a gym and work as a personal trainer. After some thinking, he said, he changed his mind.

"I was just looking at the big picture and I think criminal justice would be better in the long run," he said. "I want to help people. It makes me feel good."

Siena Heights, which competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, released the roster of their 20 new recruits on Wednesday. See the PDF tab above to check them out.

When Dunn joins the team, he'll be joining two other Roosevelt grads. Clarence Burnett, a 2010 graduate, and Kyle Timmis, a 2009 grad, also play for the Saints.

how awful, those trees were priceless...really pear trees ????
LW June 14, 2013 at 07:07 pm
They are the ornamental type and don't really produce pears. They are the newest type tree you seeRead More in all the new developments. I don't feel that they belong in a historic neighborhood. Funny how quick they are to cut down trees for developers but don't seem to care or listen to the people who are losing the trees in their neighborhood. Soon there will be a lovely parking lot for us all to look at instead.

Instead of the city promoting its history, waterfront, free parking, quaint shops and restaurants,Read More its all about the medical facilities. Priorities?

Also if the police have probable cause, which they did, they may enter without a warrant.

I understand that Carla but to see the 19 year old face and what they did to him is despicable andRead More unacceptable, have you seen the pictures of what they did to him? He is a thin young teen, how can 2 full size properly trained goons have to taser him in his face and beat his to a pulp? I will tell you this, I gaurentee you I can get this KID under control without tasers and beating him to a pulp, this is exactly what I am talking about EXCESSIVE police force, he had no weapons, no drugs and even if he ran that is no excuse to do what they did, they are THUGS with guns, how would you like your kid being beat like that over RUNNING, this was not a long drawn out police chase this was some squatters who they decided to beat the shit out of him. I also had my sons friend tackled in 6th street pack as they tacked him and broke his collerbone, and again he had ZERO on him, kids today are targets for over zealous goon policing. Not to mention the cop that did this has many complaints for his behavior. Being a good cop is one of the hardest job you can have, unfortunelty young cops today have no morals and think actually conversation is unnescary , they dont even treat people like human beings, I can only hope YOUR kid does not get beat like he did. I have the picture of the 2 goons beating on this kid in the front yard THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND THEY ARE PIECES OF CRAP SO DOING THIS. KARMA IS A $%%$$$%

I apologize for not addressing your son's friend being tackled at the park. What charges were filedRead More against the police department for it? Was there a settlement for the city to pay the boy's medical bills? Why was the boy running from the police?
KATHY SLACK June 7, 2013 at 12:19 pm
Agree, sorry that happened to you! Last year, I had hanging baskets along the inside of my fence onRead More sheperd's hooks, the local kids liked to reach over the fence and purposely knock my baskets off, it is really infuriating!
Crystal Kochoian June 8, 2013 at 07:45 pm
That is terrible. Sorry that happened to you.
Kara Golden June 10, 2013 at 01:52 pm
So sorry to hear that. I would be very upset if my baskets went missing...or were knocked over. ThisRead More isn't the first time I have heard someone say that their things were stolen. I hope that the local police are taking these things seriously.
