William (Tony) Parker has signed to play football with Ohio’s Notre Dame College.
In the school’s announcement, Notre Dame called Parker a “rangy, all-around defense back with strong pursuit skills.”
As co-captain of the Bears this season, Parker had 71 tackles and one sack. He scored two touchdowns, helping the team to capture the and .
He was named the Bears’ defensive MVP in 2011.
The football program at Notre Dame launched in the fall of 2010 as the only collegiate scholarship football program in metropolitan Cleveland. It will be a Division II school in the fall when Parker joins, which is something he said he’s excited about.
“I chose Notre Dame College in Ohio because I am really interested in helping this program build as they start competing on the D2 level,” Parker said. “I feel I can bring my virtue and football smarts that I learned here and my hard work.”
The entire campus is appealing, he said.
“I liked the small campus style and everything is in walking distance,” Parker said. “I also liked that everything was up-to-date and not old, worn down buildings."
