Sample Food from Wyandotte and Beyond at Trenton's Taste of the Races
Tired of wondering if that restaurant you drive by everyday is any good? Stop wondering and start deciding for yourself at Taste of the Races on Friday at PNC's Roar on the River inside Elizabeth Park.
Each day you drive past an interesting looking restaurant on your way to work, softball practice, your kid's soccer game or to fill up the tank and you ask yourself, "I wonder if those chicken wings are as good as everyone says?"
Stop wondering and start eating at 6 p.m. Friday at Taste of the Races, which kicks off the first night of PNC Bank's weekend-long Roar on the River at .
More than 30 Downriver restaurants, ice cream parlors, catering companies and boutique dessert shops will be on hand to answer that question about those chicken wings and many other types of food you haven't tried.

Try not to be intimidated by the long beards, eye-patches and short swords when you get there because this year's Taste of the Races has a pirate theme. Vendors and guests alike are asked to dust off that Captain Jack Sparrow costume and lick and stick on a few temporary tattoos to enjoy the festivities from under the mystique of the old Jolly Roger.
Those in costume can compete in a best pirate costume contest and all are invited to shake their booties in a hula hoop contest for a chance to win prizes.

If you can't seem to locate your best puffy shirt and enormous hat complete with lengthy feather, pirate gear will be sold throughout the weekend at the park.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door and can be purchased in groups of 10 for $300. Tickets can be obtained at , Jocks & Associates, 3630 West Road, Trenton, or Dot Com Web Productions, 2674 W. Jefferson Ave., Suite 102, Trenton.
