Wyandotte Fireworks Are Off, but Parade Is On

Nineteen World War II and Korean War veterans from Wyandotte will be honored in the July 4 parade.

While , the city’s Fourth of July parade is set to take on an extra special patriotic theme this year.

To celebrate the parade’s 75th anniversary, 19 World War II and Korean War veterans from Wyandotte will be honored as Citizens of the Year.

The veterans will be included in the parade, which kicks off at 10 a.m. July 4 near Biddle and Mulberry. The parade is expected to last till about 12:30 p.m. and will wrap up just past .

More than 100 marching troupes, pipe and drum and marching bands, schools and organizations from throughout Michigan and Canada are set to be featured in this year’s parade, said Heather Thiede, the city’s special event coordinator.

To make way for the floats and people to get down the street, parking will be prohibited on Biddle in downtown Wyandotte on July 4 until the parade is over.
