Each week, Wyandotte Patch features adoptable pets from Wyandotte.

Rose Darin, a volunteer at the , introduces us to Caroline the cat and Elliot the dog:

Elliot is a sweet and active Rat terrier/Terrier mix. He is young and on the smaller side at about 30 pounds. He can be dominant with other dogs, but does very well with people. He even does tricks! Elliot can dance in a circle on his hind legs, plus all the standard tricks. He's a very talented little guy and will make a wonderful family pet. He is neutered, heartworm negative and up to date on routine shots.

The  is located at 1170 Grove St. Adoptions are done 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday. An entire list, including photographs and descriptions, of all the pound's adoptable animals can be found on its website. The pound also can be contacted through email.

Vickie Taylor, vice president of WAG Animal Rescue, introduces us to Deek the cat and Tilly the dog:

Deek is a gorgeous cat who just turned a year old. He has beautiful green eyes that sparkle like his personality. He loves to be around people and does well with other animals. Deek also loves to play, so he would be happy with another cat around. He is neutered and up to date on shots.

Tilly is a beautiful Shepherd/Beagle mix. She is 5 years old with a wonderful personality. Tilly weighs 70 pounds, which is a little much, but we are working on that. She is spayed and vaccinated. She needs a home with a fenced-in yard. She gets along with cats and does great when one dog is around, but panics if multiple dogs are there. She also is very used to having kids around and will attach herself to them.

Anyone interested in adopting an animal from WAG is encouraged to visit the group's website and fill out an application online. The group's animals are on display every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Livonia PetSmart, 13150 Middlebelt. As not all animals are brought up each week, potential adopters are encouraged to email the group to make arrangements for a particular animal to be available to be seen. An entire list, including photographs and descriptions, of all the group's adoptable animals can be found on its website.

Cathy McCormick, a volunteer with , introduces us to Bigby and Mumford the cats:

Bigby and Mumford are two very large cats who were found as strays. They were very stressed out at first, but have adjusted nicely to life in foster care and at our Pet Adoption Center. They are very affectionate and loving, but have very different personalities. Mumford is terrified of dogs, but does great with cats. He needs a calm, quiet home without a lot of loud activity. Bigby is the more outgoing one. He likes to be the center of attention and will lie on the sofa right next to a dog without any problem. Mumford has lost two pounds since coming into foster care. So, just having a large house to roam around in is helping him burn off the pounds. Bigby is a tad more overweight than Mumford, but he is doing well, too. Mumford currently weighs 22 pounds and Bigby 25 pounds. A calorie/portion-controlled diet is important for them to stay healthy. They are estimated to be about 3 years old. They have been neutered, tested negative for feline AIDS and feline leukemia, and current on age appropriate vaccinations.

The is located at 266 Oak St. Adoptions are done by appointment only. The Pet Adoption Center is open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays for tours and visiting with some of our adoptable cats in a home-like setting. Cats also are on display in the Luv-A-Pet Center at the Canton PetSmart, 41856 Ford Road. An entire list, including photographs and descriptions, of all Shelter to Home's adoptable animals can be found on its website. Shelter to Home can be contacted by phone at 734-556-3135 and through email.
