Love Me Because ...

Sixteen hard-to-place animals were adopted at Saturday event at hardware store.

"Love me because I am older."

"Love me because I am overweight."

"Love me because I have attitude."

These are a few of the reasons that three different animal rescue organizations came together Saturday at .

Homeless animals from the , P.A.W.S. of Michigan and Shelter to Home lined the aisles of this local hardware store, hoping to be adopted.

And some of them had been waiting a long time.  

The cats and dogs featured at this very event were ones often overlooked for being overweight or older, having medical needs or because they were a little less cuddly. 

Sometimes they had been overlooked simply because they were a plain Jane tabby.

Adopters who were willing to love these animals, not despite their differences, but because of them, came out through the falling snow to find their new furry companions.

In all, 16 animals were adopted, including six from the Wyandotte pound, one being ,  a longtime resident and favorite at the shelter.  The calico famous for her frowny, grumpy face had been in the pound for at least 10 months, according to volunteers at the event.
