Soup Day Nets $4,700 for Salvation Army Food Pantry

More than 500 people come out Wednesday to taste test dozens of different types of soup.

About 530 soup eaters helped raise more than $4,700 on Wednesday for the food pantry.

The 18th annual event was sponsored by the Salvation Army, the Holiday Inn-Southgate and The News-Herald Newspapers.

Tasting stations were set up in a ballroom at the Holiday Inn, where dozens of different types of soup were served. Diners paid $8 for a plastic spoon and were invited to roam the room and sample as many soups as their stomachs could take.
