The Time Has Come: Let's All Step Up

The weather has changed and volunteers are now needed to clean the debris from the Detroit River.

The weather has been warming a bit. The snow and ice are starting to disappear from the scenery around us. Spring is officially here, and it's time for regrowth and spring cleaning.

A couple weeks ago, I wrote about off the walkway at and a want, or rather a need, to try to clean it up once the weather had changed.  So, here we are. The weather has changed, and I'm looking for volunteers.

I will be heading down to this week to make sure we can do this legally, and see to it that the proper forms are filled out and/or permits are acquired. I am not entirely sure how these things work, but can't imagine it being very difficult to get the OK for a simple project that will benefit the community in so many ways.

In the meantime, if you would like to be a part of this project, leave a comment or e-mail me directly with the link next to my byline. (Certain items are going to be needed first and foremost, so if you have a small rowboat or a small engine boat that might be useful, please let us know!)
