Update - Harlow Needs Your Help!

Update 7/23/2013

Today Harlow went to Michigan State for the emergency heart surgery. But after the surgeon and cardiologist evaluated him, it was decided not to do the surgery. Harlow is too small to safely have the surgery. He would have to have open heart surgery which in his case has only a 40% chance of survival. With this surgery which includes opening the heart for no longer than 2 minutes, there was no guarantee that all the heartworms would be removed. Plus there was the chance of complications after the surgery given his very small size.

Harlow was sent home with a different long term plan with medication. The medication is expensive and his survival rate is still not good but at least he still has the same 40% chance but without the painful invasive surgery. At least he is in a very loving foster home where he will have comfort and get the special attention he deserves. Please keep Harlow in your thoughts and prayers.

Update 7/23/2013

Harlow is not doing well. He has been experiencing some health issues so we took him back to the vet. They urged us to get him to a cardiologist right away. He went yesterday and they are very concerned with his condition. He now has to have a very expensive surgery which will cost between $4000 & $6000!

WAG and Harlow thank you!!

Recently we rescued a Teacup Yorkie Terrier from a puppy mill. This little guy was in extremely bad shape. His severely matted fur was wet with urine and feces and his teeth are in very bad shape. He has already lost some teeth and he is only around 5 years old. The worst part is he has advanced heartworm, which has brought on a heart murmur. This poor little guy is going to have a long road ahead of costly medical treatments.

WAG is asking for donations to help treat this poor little guy so he can recover and finally have a chance at a loving forever home. Please share his link with your friends, family, co-workers and anyone else you know who has a heart for animals.

Harlow is his name and you can read more about him here: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/26418281
