Joe's Hamburgers Celebrates 4th Anniversary in Downtown Wyandotte Friday

Plus Paddle for Pink, a free movie and more to enjoy this weekend in and around Wyandotte.

Joe's Hamburgers Burger Festival
Start your weekend a little early to celebrate one of the best weekend foods: The hamburger. Joe's Hamburgers in Wyandotte will kick off its fourth anniversary festivities at 4 p.m. Friday with a tailgate at 125 Elm St. in downtown Wyandotte at the Old Theater lot. The party continues until 9 p.m. with live music, a slider eating competition, burger grilling competition, corn hole tournament and more.

Paddle for Pink 
Join Riverside Kayak at the BASF Waterfront Park on Saturday at 10 a.m. to paddle the Detroit River while wearing pink to raise awareness of breast cancer. The event is one of the first in a series of Breast Cancer Awareness events in October as part of the "Paint the Town Pink" initiative. The group leaves from Portofino Pine Street Launch. The charge is $35. Call 734-285- 2925 to reserve your spot.

Free Movie Night at Trinity Lutheran Church
Trinity Lutheran Church in Wyandotte will air the 2003 film Luther for free Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Free snacks will be served and child care is available. 12th Annual Trenton Scarecrow Festival
Celebrate fall in just about every way imaginable this weekend in downtown Trenton. Attractions include a scarecrow building contest, "Scarecrow Idol," pumpkin toss, an eating contest, a carnival, live music and tons more. The event runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission and parking are free.

Huron Township Applefest
To get a double dose of fall festivals in one weekend, head west to Huron Township to take part in the 34th annual Applefest. The event takes place Saturday and Sunday on the banks of the Huron River near downtown New Boston. Highlights include a parade, fiddlers contest, apple pie contest, a 5K and more.
