2 Special Needs Cats Looking for Their Forever Homes

Wyandotte Animal Pound is located at 1170 Grove St. Adoptions are done 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday.

We have 2 cats at the Wyandotte Animal Shelter that are considered special needs:  Meet Dakota and Parker:

Gold can be found in the Dakotas if you look hard enough. But with me, you've already hit the jackpot! I am a very soft, playful, and friendly guy. Look into my bright green eyes, and you will see a loving soul just ready to meet my furever home. Oh, and do I like to be held! Come visit me and let me show you how much of a good friend I can be.

Dakota is an FIV positive cat, which means his immune system is weaker than the average cat. The usual difference with FIV cats is they should have a high quality diet, stay indoors, and have yearly physicals at the vet. That's actually exactly what all cat's lives should be like though. ;).  He is neutered, up to date on routine vaccines and Rabies, litter box trained and awesome.....

Dakota is now in a foster home where he is waiting for a spot to open in a sanctuary. His best option is still having a home of his own though. Please direct any inquiries to Cindyao1@yahoo.com please.

Parker has a very sweet nature. He was trapped by a resident who did not want Parker hanging around his house. What's a stray cat supposed to do though, when they don't know how to survive outside and all alone. We could tell immediately that Parker was a gentle guy who was used to living in a house.

Parker is considered a special needs cat because he contracted FIV while outside, likely an attack from an unneutered male. As cat lovers now know, FIV isn't much of a problem. It affects the immune system, but when a cat is kept healthy and indoors, an FIV cat can live a pretty normal life.  Many people adopt FIV cats as companions for their negative cats.
