Wyandotte Churches Serve the Homeless Through ChristNet
First Congregational Church of Wyandotte is hosting sheltering service for the first time, through a network that welcomes homeless people with warmth and open arms.
Lamont came to Wyandotte last week from Detroit looking for a place to sleep and a warm meal to eat. The 27-year-old, whose asked that his last name not be used because of his situation, is hoping to get back on his feet after recently becoming homeless. He found the warmth and food he was looking for inside First Congregational Church of Wyandotte. “I came to them because I didn’t have anywhere to go,” said Lamont. “They welcomed me with open arms, and I’m thankful.” In coordination with St. John United Church of Christ, First Congregational Church hosted ChristNet last week for the first time in the church's history. ChristNet is a roaming help center that provides shelter to those in need during the cold months through June each year. …
