Wyandotte Credit Union Members Mixed on New Name

Wyandotte Federal Credit Union became NuPath Community Credit Union on Jan. 2.

Some Wyandotte Federal Credit Union customers were surprised to learn that the business has taken on a new name and a new look in the new year. The business, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, changed its name to NuPath Community Credit Union on Jan. 2.  Kathryn White, the credit union's president and CEO, refused to talk about the name change, saying through a spokeswoman that a written statement would be issued sometime next week. Readers reacting on Facebook to a Thursday Wyandotte Patch story about the name change had mixed reactions. "I've been a member there for 25 years and the only notification I got was the website changing," Jessica Chesney wrote. "The service has gone downhill since the merger," Jerry Tuttle wrote…

Wyandotte Federal Credit Union Becomes NuPath Community Credit Union

The credit union, in its 75th year of operation, will now service people in five Michigan counties.

Wyandotte Federal Credit Union has taken on a new name and a new look in the new year. The business, which served about 110 area businesses, changed its name to NuPath Community Credit Union on Jan. 2.  The business, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, has switched from operating under a federal charter (note the word "federal" missing from the new name) and now operates under a new state charter. Due to that change, the credit union can now service anyone who lives, works and worships in five Michigan counties — Allegan, Kent, Monroe, Ottawa and Wayne. NuPath is more than just a credit union, they are active members of the Wyandotte community. NuPath and their employees have donated food and toys to The Salvation Army during Christmas and throughout the year to help those in need in the Downriver area.
