Wyandotte Hospital CEO Says Site to Remain Open After Merger

Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital President and CEO Jim Sexton briefly addressed City Council Monday night about the recent merger of Henry Ford Health System and Beaumont Health System.

Two weeks ago it was announced that Henry Ford Health System and Beaumont Health System would be entering into a $6.4 billion merger. On Monday, Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital President and CEO Jim Sexton spoke briefly at the City Council meeting about the local hospital’s future. Sexton reaffirmed that the facility in Wyandotte would remain open and continue operating after the merger. Overall, the partnership between the two health systems will include 10 total hospitals and 200 total patient care sites. Facilities will keep the Beaumont and Henry Ford brand names until officials decide on a name for the joint operation. Donations Breathe Life Into Michigan Babies

The Carls Foundation donated $2 million to Henry Ford Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.

A $2 million donation to Henry Ford Health System's Envision Campaign has provided lifesaving help to countless of newborns across the state, including one right here in Wyandotte. The Carls Foundation gave the money to Henry Ford Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) through a multiyear grant. The Detroit-based foundation was established by industrialist William Carls and his wife, Marie, following the loss of their only child in infancy. The donation has already made it possible to upgrade equipment in the NICU, including the purchase of GE Giraffe OmniBeds. The “giraffe beds” monitor the temperatures of babies and warm them if needed. The beds also provide humidity and have a “Baby Susan” mattress that rotates 360 degrees so …
