'Unsubstantiated' Gun Threats Made Against Wyandotte's Roosevelt High School

A Wyandotte police officer will be at the school on Friday as a precaution.

Gun threats made against Roosevelt High School are being called "false or unsubstantiated," according to a letter emailed to parents on Thursday. According to the letter, there were rumors of "certain students threatening to bring a gun to school to shoot everyone" on Friday. "All of the rumors about students were investigated and were found to be false or unsubstantiated," the district's letter says. The rumors are believed to have been fueled by last week's deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, as well as the hype surrounding Friday being the end of world. Wyandotte Holds Vigil in Wake of Newtown Shooting

Sunday's candlelight vigil at BASF Waterfront Park was full of prayers, poems, songs and tears as the victims of the Newtown, CT school shooting were remembered.

As the nation struggles with Friday's deadly school shooting in Newtown, CT, the Wyandotte community had a chance to gather Sunday evening to grieve and to show its support. A candlelight vigil consisting of prayers, poems, songs and tears was held at BASF Waterfront Park, as dozens of people expressed their sadness and honored the memory of the 26 victims. The city of Wyandotte, along with the Women of Wyandotte, a local nonprofit organization led by City Councilwoman Sheri Sutherby-Fricke, hosted the vigil. “Our community needed a place to grieve,” Sutherby-Fricke said. “No matter where it happened, it affects us all personally in some way. Wyandotte Hosting Candlelight Vigil in Wake of Deadly School Shooting

The event begins at 5 p.m. Sunday at BASF Waterfront Park.

In wake of Friday morning's deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, there will be a candlelight vigil on Sunday in Wyandotte. The vigil is being sponsored by the city of Wyandotte and Women of Wyandotte, a local nonprofit organization led by City Councilwoman Sheri Sutherby-Fricke. "There are a lot of people who are very, very upset by what's happened," Sutherby-Fricke said. "In times like this, I think they need to be together." The event begins at 5 p.m. at BASF Waterfront Park. Members of Wyandotte's religious community will lead the prayer vigil at 5:30 p.m. People are asked to bring their own candles. First of all, yes, we probably do have more guns then Yemen because the population of Yemen is not quite 25 million people are the U.S. is about 311 million. So even if every person in Yemen owned a gun and only 10% of Americans owned a gun then we would have more. Not sure what that has to do with the price of tea in China. Guns don't kill people.
