Hundreds of Downriver Children Get Free Backpacks, School Supplies at Wyandotte Hospital Giveaway

Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, Operation: Kid Equip and Affinity Group Credit Union teamed up to host “Backpackpalooza Downriver” on Saturday.

Annette Plassman said she easily saved $100 on Saturday and had a good time doing it. The mother of four was amongst the hundreds of people lined up outside Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital for “Backpackpalooza Downriver.” The hospital teamed with Operation: Kid Equip and Affinity Group Credit Union to provide Downriver children with free books, backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year. "I couldn't believe it," Plassman said. "They just handed things out like it was Halloween. The kids had fun and it really helped save some money." Children Can Get Free Backpacks, School Supplies

Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, Operation: Kid Equip and Affinity Group Credit Union are teaming up to host “Backpackpalooza Downriver” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the hospital.

Children will be able to go back-to-school “shopping” for free on Saturday at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. The hospital has teamed with Operation: Kid Equip and Affinity Group Credit Union to provide Downriver children with free books, backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year. “Backpackpalooza Downriver” will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is not required and there is no income requirement. However, school-age children must be present to receive their backpack and supplies. The students will have the chance to pick out a backpack and stuff it with school supplies, provided by the three partnering organizations. The giveaway is limited to 350 children.
