Store Damaged in Downtown Fire Set to Reopen Next Week

Country Enchantments is scheduled to reopen on Monday, with a celebration set for Nov. 16.

After a June 10 fire completely gutted Lions & Tigers & Beers Sports Club, business owner Mary Hall found out that her neighboring store, Country Enchantments, had suffered severe smoke damage from the blaze. Hall was forced to temporarily close her women's clothing store, which she has owned for 11 years, and is located two doors down from LTB's. She said all merchandise and fixtures inside were destroyed by smoke, and the walls, ceiling and floor were badly damaged, as well. “It was smokified,” she said of the building after the fire. “The whole store has literally been replaced.” Following five months of extensive repair work, which Hall said was covered by her insurance company, she plans to reopen her business on Monday. New Restaurant Replaces Solero Cafe in Wyandotte

Mexican-themed Agave took over the space earlier this week.

Solero Cafe has been replaced with a new restaurant, but not a new face. Wyandotte Downtown Development Authority Director Natalie Rankine said the same man, Jim Marangos, owns the new Mexican-themed restaurant, Agave. Rankine said she saw the sign for the new restaurant go up earlier this week. Agave's Facebook page said its grand opening is Thursday. Wyandotte Farmers Market Farmer's Fair is Today

The weekly farmers market comes to a close for another season.

It’s a taste of the country in the heart of the city. The Wyandotte Downtown Development Authority invites the community to its Farmer's Fair, from 4-7 p.m. today at the corner of First and Elm. “Last year’s event was a huge success, and people of all ages had a great time,” Wyandotte DDA Director Natalie Rankine said. “We'll have sack races, three-legged races, a tug-of-war, produce contest, bounce and other activities for the whole family.” Great American banjo player Al Allotta and his side-by-side banjos will entertain patrons beginning at 4 pm. Activities will include a corn shucking contest at 5:15 p.m., an extreme pumpkin carving demonstration at 5:30 p.m. There will be contests and activities for kids, including a 3 legged race, …
