Wyandotte Students Win More Than $5,000 in Tools for Auto Shop

Four Roosevelt High School seniors and their auto shop teacher participated in a contest at the North American International Auto Show in January.

Tools won during a contest at the North American International Auto Show in January are used by Roosevelt High School students on a daily basis, according to auto shop teacher Gary Chesney. Students won more than $5,000 in prizes and services after Chesney and four of his advanced automotive technology students won the grand prize, which included ten Snap-On multi-meters, ten circuit board trainers and four hours of free teacher training. "They showed me they are really into this (automotive technology) and they want to do this for a living," Chesney said. During a contest called Tech-Trek, Chesney and his team had to answer 50 questions, which tested the students' and their instructor's knowledge of automobiles.  "The questions were hard…

Good Job Mr. Chesney! The Wyandotte School System has the best Automotive program In the area. The program teaches the basics and the great technological demands to fix today's vehicles.
