I haven't always considered myself a writer. It wasn't until college that my love of writing really took off. I was an English major, and on a whim, took a journalism class taught by a woman who, with her husband, owned the Point Reyes Light, a small newspaper in Marin County, California.

Did I mention they won a Pulitzer Prize? Yeah, so I was kind of inspired.

The journalism class led to a journalism major ... which led to a scholarship, an internship, a BA in journalism and a career. My career took me from reporting for a newspaper group in the San Francisco Bay Area, to a PR job with Ford.  And now, to Patch.

You might be asking, how could she leave San Francisco to come to Michigan?

For me, coming to Ford and to Dearborn was a homecoming. I'm a native Michigander, and except for a short stint in Birmingham, I grew up in Dearborn and attended Dearborn schools. My dad worked for Ford for 33 years, I was with Ford for 15 years, and my husband still works there.

While on my career path, I was also on a mommy path. I'm the mother of six, including 11-year-old twins, and a grandmother of two. I currently live in Plymouth with my husband, our twins and our two cats.

I'm excited to be writing for Dearborn Patch. Not only is it a chance to do what I love, but also to reconnect with a community I called home for more than 25 years. I'm also a contributor  to other Patch sites,  including Plymouth, Wyandotte, and Trenton.
